Organised as part of the Master of Urbanism and Human Settlements - Master of Urbanism, Landscape and Planning of the ICoU (International Center of Urbanism) at KULeuven, the ‘Studio Lisbon’ workshop developed an exploration of urban and territorial design with international students, in a conceptual, thematic and territorial interaction with the FCT MetroPublicNet project, based at URBinLAB / CIAUD.

The ‘Studio Lisbon’ workshop took place at the Lisbon School of Architecture of the University of Lisbon during the months of April and May 2022, with the Várzea de Loures and the River Trancão as the study and project territory, an area of outstanding environmental and landscape value and the centre of an urban mosaic of great heterogeneity.

The project's exploration is strongly anchored in a qualified, multi-scale and integrative public space structure as a response to current challenges that are the focus of the MetroPublicNet project, namely environmental robustness and resilience, sustainable and low-carbon mobility and social inclusion and territorial cohesion.

Coordination & teaching team: Ana Beja da Costa & Wim Wambecq
Institutional support: Carlos Dias Coelho (FA-ULisboa), João Pedro Costa (CIAUD), João Rafael Santos (MetroPublicNet), Tânia Mateus (Loures Municipality)
Jury members: Kelly Shannon (OSA, KU Leuven), Bruno De Meulder (OSA, KU Leuven), Viviana D'Auria (OSA, KU Leuven), Catarina Raposo (Baldios Arquitectos Paisagistas), João Pedro Costa (FA-ULisboa), João Rafael Santos (FA-ULisboa), Maria Matos Silva (ISA-ULisboa), Pedro Bento (FA-ULisboa), Tânia Mateus (Loures Municipality),
